Dental Crown Procedure
1. Picking the Shade of the Dental Crown
The dentist will use a shade guide to help match the colour of the rest of the teeth.
2. Taking a Scan of the Patient’s Original Dentition
Before putting on the crown, the dentist will scan the patient’s teeth to make an identical dental crown shape.
3. Drilling of Decay
Make sure that the tooth has no decay. Once all the decay is removed, the tooth is ready for the dental crown.
4. Troughing the Gum Areas
Using a cord or laser, gum areas need roughing to place a viscous material around the gums to prevent bleeding.
5. Designing the Crown
Copy the exact dimensions of the sides of the tooth. After designing, the dental crown is ready to be milled. Once done, it will test it on the tooth to see if it fits.
6. Before Putting the Crown to the Tooth
The crown needs to be rinsed, primed, and even etched.
